Let us know what things to keep in mind while taking the idol of Ganeshji.

Things to keep in mind while bringing the idol of Ganesh ji…

Type and face of idol

The Ganesha idol made of clay (Shadu Mati) is considered the best. Idols made of metal, plaster of Paris (POP), are not considered as per the scriptures for the worship of Ganeshji. It is auspicious for Ganpati to face east or north. When the devotee worships, his face should be towards the west or south.

Size and place of the idol

Idols up to 1.5 feet in size are best in the house. Bringing a very big idol into the house is not considered appropriate. Choose a clean, holy, and airy place in the house. It is forbidden to keep the idol near the kitchen or bathroom. Do not keep the idol directly on the ground; keep it on a stool/platter with a red or yellow cloth.

Direction of Ganesha's trunk

The idol with a trunk on the right side (Siddhivinayak form) is considered to be very awakened, in which strict worship is necessary as per rules. The idol with a trunk on the left side is considered auspicious for family life and for simple worship.

Moshak in Ganesha's idol

If Ganesha is sitting (wearing red clothes, one hand in blessing posture), then wealth, happiness, and intelligence increase. Standing Ganpati is auspicious for business and new beginnings. Also, keep in mind that while taking the idol of Ganesha, modak and moshak must be with him.

Method of bringing the idol

While bringing the idol home, wrap it in a red or yellow cloth. The idol should be brought higher than your head and should not be kept under your feet. While bringing it home, chant Ganpati Bappa Morya.
