With Christmas just around the corner, the excitement of being a 'Secret Santa' is at its peak in offices and among friends. Everyone wants their gift to be the most unique and bring a smile to the recipient's face. However, in this atmosphere of excitement, we often forget that every gift has its own psychology and Vastu (Indian architectural and design principles). Some things can unknowingly create rifts in relationships or make the recipient feel mentally uncomfortable.

If you are also playing 'Santa' for someone this year, immediately remove these 5 things from your list:
1. Sharp or pointed objects (like knives or scissors)
According to Vastu Shastra and old beliefs, you should never give knives, scissors, or any sharp objects as gifts. It is believed that giving such things creates bitterness between the giver and the receiver, and the relationship can be "cut short." Even if it's a fancy kitchen knife set, avoid making it a Secret Santa gift.
2. Handkerchiefs and Perfumes
This might surprise you, but according to astrology and Vastu, giving a handkerchief is considered a symbol of sorrow and tears. Similarly, the belief behind giving perfumes or scented items is that as the fragrance fades, the sweetness of the relationship may also diminish. In many cultures, it is considered a cause of separation.
3. Shoes
Giving shoes as a gift seems very common, but it is not considered auspicious. It is said that giving shoes as a gift increases struggles in a person's life and can symbolize distance between you and that person.
4. Watch
While a watch is a classic gift, many people associate it with time stopping or bringing "bad times." According to Chinese culture and some Indian beliefs, giving a watch is considered a sign of hindering progress in life.
5. Idols of God
We might think that an idol of God is the most sacred gift, but giving it in a casual event like Secret Santa can be risky. If the recipient doesn't take proper care of the idol or maintain its sanctity, you might also be held responsible.

What is the right way to give a gift?
Always choose something that the recipient will find useful, such as a diary, a good book, indoor plants, or a customized coffee mug. Your emotions are attached to the gift, so choose it carefully to ensure your relationship remains strong.
