The festival of Chaitra Navratri is one of the most sacred festivals in Hinduism. According to the Vedic almanac, Chaitra Navratri begins this year on March 19th. During these nine days, it is customary to perform special worship and rituals dedicated to the nine distinct forms of Goddess Durga. Additionally, devotees observe fasts to attain auspicious blessings.

What to Do During Chaitra Navratri
Perform the *Kalash Sthapana* (ritual pot installation) during the auspicious time (*Shubh Muhurat*) on the first day of Navratri. Worship Goddess Durga by lighting an *Akhand Jyot* (eternal flame).
Recite the *Vrat Katha* (fasting legend).
Recite the *Durga Chalisa* with proper rituals.
Offer the Goddess her favorite flowers and *Bhog* (sacred food offering).
Chant the mantras of Goddess Durga.
Donate food, money, and other essential items.
Consume *Sattvic* (pure and wholesome) food.
Pay special attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
Maintain a peaceful atmosphere within the home.
Ensure you perform *Kanya Pujan* (worship of young girls) on the days of *Maha Ashtami* or *Maha Navami*.

What Not to Do During Chaitra Navratri
Do not consume *Tamasic* (heavy or stimulating) food during Chaitra Navratri.
Avoid engaging in arguments or disputes with anyone.
Do not harbor negative thoughts about anyone.
Do not wear black clothing.
Cutting hair, shaving, or trimming nails is considered inauspicious during Navratri.
If you are fasting, do not consume wheat, rice, lentils, or regular table salt.
Do not allow dirt or clutter to accumulate in your home or place of worship.
Do not disrespect women, young girls, or the elderly.
Those observing the fast should not sleep during the daytime.
