Although this fast is not waterless, only some special things are consumed on this day. Whatever things are eaten in this fast are very nutritious and healthy. What to eat in Halshasthi fast?

-Halshasthi Vrat is not a waterless fast. According to mythological and religious beliefs, Balarama Ji loved the things that grew in the pond. In such a situation, the role of the pond is important in this worship. This is because the food items that grow in the pond are not plowed. They grow naturally.

-It is necessary to avoid the consumption of certain food items, so that your worship-fast is successful, and it does not get broken. In this fast, only food items grown on trees are allowed.

-In this fast, you can consume buffalo milk, curd prepared from it, and ghee. You can eat things grown in the pond like Karemua Saag, Nari Ka Saag, Pasaai, or Tinni rice (a type of wild rice, which is red or brown) by making Mahua Lata.

- On this day, you should consume things grown in the pond. In the Puja material, you can keep things grown from the land without ploughing, such as paddy lai, Mahua leaves, paddy rice, buffalo milk, curd, ghee, etc.

-Women end this fast by eating curd made from buffalo milk and Mahua by placing it on Palas leaves.

- After doing Puja in the evening, women break the fast by making and consuming Pasaai rice and Mahua laata.

- On this day, you can make and eat Karemua ka saag or Nari ka saag with rock salt. You can also make and drink Mahua tea.

What not to eat in Halashasthi fast?

- If you are keeping Halashasthi fast, then on this day, even by mistake, grains, fruits, and vegetables grown in the field or ploughed by a plough are not consumed. Also, do not eat or drink cow's milk, diya prepared from it, ghee, etc.

- Neither toothpaste nor brush should be used on the day of Halashasthi. On this day, you should clean your teeth with a Mahua toothbrush.
