The film "Haq," which was embroiled in legal trouble before its release, has received a major reprieve from the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The film will now be released in theaters on its scheduled date, November 7th. A petition was filed in the court seeking a stay on the release of the film starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi. The court has dismissed the petition.

Demand for a stay on the film's release
Siddika Begum, the daughter of the woman whose case inspired the film, had filed a petition in the court seeking a stay on the release of "Haq." The Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed the petition. In the petition, Siddika Begum argued that the filmmakers could not make such a film without the consent of Shah Bano's family or heirs.
The court also accepted the filmmaker's position that "Haq" was inspired by the historical case. According to the court, the film's disclaimer clearly states that it is fictional.
Court Dismisses Petition
The Indore bench of the High Court rejected the arguments, stating, "The privacy or reputation acquired by a person during his or her lifetime ends with his or her death. It cannot be inherited like movable or immovable property."
The court also accepted the filmmaker's contention that "Haq" is inspired by a historical case. According to the court, the film's disclaimer clearly states that it is fictional.

Film Inspired by Case
The film "Haq," directed by Supran S. Verma, is inspired by the case of Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum. In this case, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of granting alimony to divorced Muslim women.
