Is Cold Water Good in Summer: In summer, people suffer from strong sunlight, hot air, sweat, and dust. To get relief from this, most people prefer to drink cold water. Drinking cold water in summer provides relief and makes one feel cool. Also, it prevents fatigue and dehydration. Water is often cooled by keeping it in the fridge or ice is added to it. Cold water makes one feel that the body is getting cold. Now the question is, is cold water more effective than normal water in cooling the body? Let's know what science says about this.

From the point of view of science, when we drink very cold water, it is much lower than the internal temperature of our body. The temperature inside our body is around 37°C. In such a situation, when you drink cold water, the body suddenly feels cold, but this effect lasts only for a short time. The body has to spend extra energy to digest cold water so that the water becomes compatible with the body's temperature. In this process, the body produces more heat. In such a situation, it can be said that drinking cold water does not have a long-term cooling effect on the body.
Water of normal temperature is more favorable for the body. It does not affect the digestive process and helps to keep the body hydrated without extra effort. Ayurveda also confirms that drinking very cold water can slow down the digestive fire, which can cause problems like indigestion, gas, and stomach pain. Health experts are also of the opinion that drinking too much cold water can increase problems like sore throat, cold, or headache. Trying to cool the body suddenly increases the risk of muscle cramps or catching a cold.

If you want to keep the body cool and refreshed, then consuming slightly cold or normal water is the safest and most beneficial way. Along with this, natural drinks like coconut water, buttermilk, lemonade, and fruit juice also help keep the body cool. In the end, it can be said that normal-temperature water or slightly cold water is the best option to keep the body hydrated and cool in summer. While very cold water can provide relief for some time, it can be harmful to the body in the long term. The water of balanced temperature is much better.
