Health Tips: Take special care of your health during winters; avoid doing these things in the fog, otherwise you might fall ill..

In Western Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut and other districts, the cold weather is intensifying. The situation is such that the combination of fog and air pollution is causing breathing difficulties for people.  Considering these factors, special precautions should be taken during this cold weather.

Dr. Santosh Kumar Mittal, Head of the Department of TB and Chest Diseases, stated that given the current weather conditions, everyone, from the elderly to young people, should take special precautions. He added that individuals suffering from TB and asthma should completely avoid going out during the foggy hours of the morning and evening. This is because the cold weather can be very harmful to them. He noted that the number of patients in the OPD has increased compared to before. Therefore, if everyone takes precautions, they will avoid getting sick, as caution is a crucial tool in preventing illness.

He also emphasized the following points:  During the cold season, it is often observed that families try to keep their elderly members warm by using heaters in their rooms and keeping the rooms completely closed. However, this can be quite dangerous for the elderly. Running a heater for hours reduces the oxygen level in the room. If someone has a respiratory illness, this can even be life-threatening.

Therefore, it is best to avoid using room heaters. He also advised paying special attention to diet. Avoid eating outside junk food. Instead, consume simple home-cooked meals like lentils and roti, and include iron-rich vegetables in your diet to stay healthy. If you experience any health problems, consult an expert immediately, as even a small lapse in caution can be fatal during this time. He concluded by saying that if you keep all these points in mind during this season, you will stay healthy.
