Overactive Gastrocolic Reflex: If you feel the need to go to the bathroom frequently, especially immediately after eating, this condition can be a major warning sign regarding your health. People often mistake this for normal indigestion, but it's caused by an overactive gastrocolic reflex. While this is a normal process, when it becomes abnormally strong, it could be a sign of irritable bowel syndrome or another digestive system disorder.

This problem occurs because food, upon reaching the stomach, sends a signal to the intestines to contract rapidly, forcing the food to move faster. However, some simple lifestyle and dietary changes can significantly control this problem. These measures will not only normalize your bowel movements but also improve your overall digestive health.
Avoid Spicy and Oily Foods
To control this problem, avoid fried, highly spicy, and processed foods in your diet. These foods stimulate the intestines and increase the gastrocolic reflex. Instead, include light, soothing foods like yogurt, bananas, pineapple, cucumbers, and radishes in your diet.
Celery and Cumin Powder
Fennel and cumin are very effective in preventing the urge to go to the bathroom immediately after eating. Fennel cools the body, while cumin improves digestion. Lightly roast fennel and cumin, grind them, and make a powder. Take half a teaspoon of this powder with lukewarm water immediately after a meal to improve digestion.
Avoid Overeating and Chew Your Food
Avoid eating large amounts of food at one time. Instead, eat small portions at regular intervals throughout the day. Develop the habit of chewing each bite slowly and thoroughly. Chewing helps digestion begin in the mouth, reducing pressure on the stomach and intestines.

Hydration and exercise are essential.
Keep your body well hydrated. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Lack of water can cause constipation, which further aggravates the problem. Also, exercise regularly and practice yoga and meditation to manage stress. These habits help maintain normal intestinal motility.
