IPL 2025 AUCTION: 5 BIG NAMES FROM THE CRICKET WORLD WHO REMAINED UNSOLD

New Delhi. The excitement about IPL 2025 has increased further. This time all the 10 teams will be seen with many new players. Before the start of the tournament, the two-day mega auction has ended in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and some teams are now eager to stake claim to the trophy with a new coach and captain.

India's wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player to be sold in the league on the first day. Whereas, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a mere 13-year-old player from Bihar, has been bought by Rajasthan Royals. This franchise, which gives a platform to young players, has added the youngest player in the history of the tournament. However, in the meantime something happened which has stunned the cricket world. This time legendary batsmen, dangerous bowlers and star all-rounders also remained unsold.

Players like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer got big deals, while big names like David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were not sold. Surprisingly, Prithvi Shaw and Shardul Thakur did not find any buyers in Jeddah on November 24 and 25. 43-year-old James Anderson registered for the auction for the first time in his career, but he did not find a buyer.

David Warner (base price Rs 2 crore): This is the end of one of the most memorable careers in the IPL. The former Australian opener did not find any buyer for Rs 2 crore. Now the question is, will we see him in the tournament as a commentator? He remained unsold on the second day as well as on the first day. It was surprising that David Warner was not sold.

Prithvi Shaw (base price Rs 75 lakh): No one wanted to buy this opener after he was released from Delhi Capitals. He started his career with the Capitals and played 79 matches, scoring 1893 runs. In the last two seasons, he could play only 16 matches. Last season he scored only 198 runs. He was in the news for the wrong reasons and fitness concerns.

Shardul Thakur (Base Price Rs 2 Crore): It was a big surprise that this star all-rounder remained unsold. After making his mark for Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, Shardul was expected to get a good deal. However, he came on the second day of the auction when the teams did not have much money.

James Anderson (Base Price Rs 1.25 Crore): Cricket fans were hopeful that James Anderson, the fast bowler who has taken the most Test wickets in the world, would also get a bumper bid. This legendary England bowler had registered for the auction for the first time in his career. Even CSK, famous for buying legendary players, did not buy Anderson. He was also kept out of the bidding process. Anderson hoped that some team would definitely buy him in the IPL auction, but this did not happen. Forget about buying Anderson, who had a base price of Rs 1.25 crore, his name was not even taken in the auction. 10 IPL teams decided not to bring his name to the auction. That is, no team wanted to buy him at all. Anderson's name did not even appear in the accelerated auction.

Daryl Mitchell (Base price Rs 2 crore): The New Zealand veteran registered himself for the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore. The right-handed batsman played for Chennai Super Kings in the previous edition of the IPL but he too remained unsold this time.
