In an interview with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan said, "I have known Rajpal for over 20 years. I first saw him in the 2000 film Jungle and was amazed by his performance. My first film with him was Malamaal Weekly (2006), and since then he has worked in most of my films."

Priyadarshan further said, "I asked the producer of my next film (Jubilee Films) to pay Rajpal more than his fee, considering his condition. We want to save him. The producer has agreed. Rajpal is playing the villain in my film."
