Thalapathy Vijay's film *Jan Nayakan* had been dominating the box office since its release, but it has now become embroiled in the Cauvery water dispute. The ongoing conflict between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is impacting the film. Farmers and pro-Kannada organizations protested against Tamil Nadu regarding the release of Cauvery water, prompting several theaters in Karnataka to cancel screenings of the Tamil film.

Theaters have also removed Vijay's posters, banners, and cut-outs from their premises. Following police advice, shows of *Jan Nayakan* were halted at the city's Urvashi Theatre, and staff removed promotional material related to the film. Theater owners replaced the scheduled screenings with the Kannada film *Karavali*. Police forces were also deployed outside the theater to prevent any untoward incidents.

**'Jan Nayakan' Released on July 23**
As tensions over the Cauvery water-sharing issue escalated, pro-Kannada activists removed banners for *Jan Nayakan* in Mandya as well. *Jan Nayakan* was released on July 23 across approximately 125 to 150 theaters in Karnataka, comprising over 75 single-screen cinemas and around 50 multiplexes. The suspension of screenings in the state is bound to impact the film's box office collections.

Directed by H. Vinoth, *Jan Nayakan* is a Tamil political action drama featuring Vijay, Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, and Mamitha Baiju in key roles. The film also features Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain, and Priyamani in significant roles. It is the official Tamil remake of the 2023 hit Telugu film *Bhagavanth Kesari*. The film's story revolves around a former IPS officer who takes responsibility for his late friend's daughter, helping her overcome a childhood trauma and inspiring her to join the army. In doing so, he finds himself pitted against powerful and corrupt individuals.
