They will be able to reach Kedarnath without climbing. Along with this, the devotees going to Hemkund will also get relief. The deadline for awarding the work of both the projects has been fixed. The work will be handed over to the construction company this month. The possible date of construction will also be decided as soon as the work is awarded.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sent the relevant file to the Finance Ministry to start the work of Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib ropeway soon. According to the ministry, the work will be awarded as soon as approval is received. A slight change has been made to the project prepared earlier. For the construction of the ropeway, the mountain may have to be pruned at many places and bridges may also have to be widened at many places to carry machines and other heavy goods. Due to this, the project has been sent again.

Will be ready by 2029

After the work is awarded, the construction work starts within six months and the construction work will be completed in five years. If the work is awarded within the stipulated time, then the construction work is likely to be completed by 2029. That is, the journey to Kedarnath will become easy by 2029.

The journey will be of a few minutes.

At present, it takes seven to eight hours to reach Kedarnath by climbing from below, but after the construction of the ropeway, this journey will be reduced to a few minutes. At the same time, the journey to Hemkund Sahib will be reduced to a few hours instead of three days. In this way, people of all ages will be able to visit Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib easily.

At present, apart from walking, helicopter service is the only option.

At present, there are two options to go to Kedarnath, the first can be reached by traveling on foot for seven to eight hours and the second is helicopter service. Helicopter service is expensive and not easily available due to high demand. Due to this, most devotees reach Kedarnath on foot. They travel to Hemkund Sahib on foot.
