Sooraj cries on stage.

At the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Sooraj said, "This is a very special film for all of us. Thank you Kanu Chauhan for giving me a chance. Thank you, Akanksha." As he continued to speak, he could not hold back his emotions. Tears welled up in his eyes and he fell silent. Suniel Shetty, who was standing next to him, consoled him.

What did Sooraj say on his comeback?

When asked why he disappeared from the big screen for four years, Sooraj said, "Life. I had to clear many things from my life. Everyone knows about it (Jiah Khan's case). There is nothing else hidden behind it. My mother (Zarina Wahab) says good things take time. I was waiting for the right film, and I don't think I could have ever got a better film than this to make a comeback.'

The actor was arrested in Jiah Khan's death case.

Sooraj was at the center of a high-profile case following the tragic death of actress Jiah Khan, who committed suicide in her Juhu, Mumbai apartment on June 3, 2013. The actor was arrested on charges of abetting suicide based on a six-page suicide note that exposed her troubled relationship with Sooraj. He got bail after spending 22 days in jail. A decade later in 2023, a special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Pancholi due to lack of evidence in the case.
