Sanjay Dutt’s iconic film *Khalnayak*, released 33 years ago, remains fresh in people's memories to this day. But now, after 33 years, the 'Khalnayak' (villain) has returned. The sequel to the 1993 superhit film *Khalnayak* was officially announced today. The filmmakers have also unveiled the film's first look.
**What does the First Look reveal?**
The filmmakers and Sanjay Dutt took to their Instagram accounts to announce *Khalnayak Returns*, releasing the film's first poster and a teaser video. In the first-look video, Sanjay Dutt appears sporting a long-haired look. The video depicts several people lying on the ground in a wounded state. Just then, Sanjay Dutt arrives on the scene; one of the injured men begs him for mercy.
He uses the blood and flammable fluid pooled on the ground to light his cigarette. He then declares, "Didn't I tell you? On October 10th, at 10 PM, Ballu would fly right out of jail!" Following this, he walks away from the scene, humming the *Khalnayak* title track: "Nayak nahin, Khalnayak hoon main..." (I am not a hero; I am a villain). The first look makes it evident that Sanjay Dutt will be reprising his role as Ballu and is set to deliver powerful action sequences on screen once again.
**Some stories never end...**
In addition to the video, two posters for the film have also been released. In these posters, Sanjay Dutt appears in a menacing avatar, sporting his signature long-haired look. Sharing one of these posters, Sanjay Dutt wrote in the caption: "Every story has its time, and its time has finally come. Khalnayak Returns."
Furthermore, while sharing the first-look video, Sanjay Dutt wrote: "Some stories never end; they simply begin again." However, no information regarding the film's release date has been revealed yet. The film is being produced under the banner of Jio Studios.

**Sanjay Dutt conceived the idea for *Khalnayak 2* while in prison**
During the launch of the *Khalnayak 2* teaser and posters, Sanjay Dutt revealed that the idea to make *Khalnayak 2* first struck him while he was in prison. I used to play music in jail, and the film that was always in the highest demand there was *Khalnayak*. So, I asked 4,000 inmates to raise their hands if they wanted to see *Khalnayak 2*—and every single one of them raised their hand.
Then, I asked them each to write a single page; when I was released on parole, I really liked some of the material they had written. I met with Subhash-ji and shared it with him.
