Kidney Failure Symptoms: The kidneys are often called the body's filters. Any decline in their function can have repercussions on other organs. Few people know that blurred vision or other vision problems can be an early sign of kidney damage or chronic kidney disease.

Both the kidneys and eyes depend on a complex network of blood vessels. When the kidneys fail to function properly, it increases blood pressure, causing damage to the eye's most sensitive vessels (especially the retina), a condition known as hypertensive retinopathy.
So, if you experience blurred vision for no apparent reason, don't ignore it. This could be a warning sign of a serious kidney problem, not just an eye problem. Recognizing these symptoms early and consulting a doctor can prevent serious complications like kidney failure.
Blurred Vision and Swelling
A major indirect symptom of kidney damage is blurred vision, which occurs due to high blood pressure affecting the retina. Another sign is swelling under the eyes or on the face. This swelling occurs when the kidneys cannot properly filter proteins and fluids, causing them to accumulate in the tissues.
Constant Itching and Dry Skin
When the kidneys are unable to remove waste products from the blood, these toxins begin to accumulate in the body. These toxins can cause severe and persistent itching of the skin, and the skin may appear very dry or lifeless.
Sleep Problems
As kidney function deteriorates, the accumulation of toxins in the blood increases. These toxins disrupt the sleep cycle. Kidney patients often have difficulty sleeping or experience restless legs syndrome (RLS). This is a neurological condition characterized by an intense, uncontrollable urge to move the legs, especially in the evening or at night when sitting or lying down.

Fatigue and lack of concentration
Kidney failure can lead to anemia because the kidneys are unable to produce enough of the hormone (erythropoietin) that helps produce red blood cells. Anemia causes a lack of oxygen in the body, leading to extreme fatigue, weakness, and poor concentration. If you experience these symptoms, consult a doctor immediately.
