LPG Cylinder Demand Met in Gujarat
Officials informed IANS on Monday that, despite a surge in bookings amidst the panic triggered by rumors, Gujarat successfully met its monthly requirement of 6.8 million (68 lakh) LPG cylinders in March. They further emphasized that the supply of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas remains stable across the state.

Addressing a state-level briefing, Sanjeev Kumar Behera, State Head and Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), stated that there was a sharp increase in the demand for LPG last month, with 7.5 million (75 lakh) bookings recorded. He stated, "There were no disruptions in distribution. Demand witnessed a sudden surge due to panic bookings and advance orders following rumors; however, supply remained commensurate with the state's requirements."

He further explained that Gujarat has 1.27 crore active LPG connections, of which 88 percent of bookings and 85 percent of deliveries are confirmed through digital channels.

The Oil Marketing Companies—Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited—collectively operate 5,133 retail outlets across the state; all of these outlets maintain adequate stocks of petrol and diesel, and sufficient reserves are also available at 17 supply depots.
