There is a tradition of bathing in a holy river on the day of Magh Purnima. But if you are not going to Mahakumbh for bathing, then you can still get virtue like Mahakumbh by bathing at home. For this, get up early in the morning and clean the house thoroughly. After this, add a little Ganga water to the bathing water and take a bath with this water. While bathing, meditate on Mother Ganga and chant the mantra given below.

Mantra:
Gange Cha Yamune Chaiva Godavari Saraswati. Narmade Sindhu Kaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru.
If you cannot chant this mantra, then other mantras of Maa Ganga can also be chanted. Such as: Namami Gange! or Om Namo Gangaye Vishwarupini Narayani Namo Namah
According to beliefs, by taking bath at home with this method, one gets the same fruits as the virtues of bathing in Maha Kumbh or holy river. Worship and donation after bathing are also considered very important. For this, after bathing, first, worship the Sun God and offer him Arghya. Now offer water to Tulsi ji. After this, light incense and lamp in the temple of the house and worship Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi with devotion and keep a fast. After this, you must donate to the needy or poor people according to their need. On this day, you can donate food, sesame, jaggery, warm clothes etc.
