Difference between Mahashivratri and Shivaratri
According to religious texts, the festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated once a year, which falls on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalgun. This date is celebrated as the 'wedding anniversary' of the marriage of Mahadev and Goddess Parvati, it is also called the day of the Shiva-Parvati union. At the same time, Shivaratri falls on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha every month. On this day, there is a law to worship Bholenath. It is believed that by doing Jalabhishek on Shivling on Shivratri, happiness, and prosperity reside in the life of the devotee.

The Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month will start on 26 February at 11:08 am. The date will end on 27 February 2025 at 08:54 am. Based on the Udaya Tithi, the festival of Mahashivratri will be celebrated on 26 February 2025.
Auspicious time for Jalabhishek
According to the Panchang, the auspicious time for Jalabhishek on Shivling on Mahashivratri is from 6:47 am to 9:42 am. After this, Jalabhishek will take place from 11:6 am to 12:35 pm. At the same time, the auspicious time for Jalabhishek in the evening is from 3:25 pm to 6:8 pm.
