Mauni Amavasya 2026 Remedies: The new moon day falling in the month of Magha is also known as Mauni Amavasya. It is considered a particularly auspicious day in the Sanatana tradition. This day is extremely auspicious for bathing, charity, and performing rituals for ancestors. It is believed that religious acts performed on this day please the ancestors and bring their blessings. If you are facing repeated obstacles in life due to ancestral curses (Pitra Dosha), then simple remedies performed on Magha Amavasya can provide relief from these problems. Rituals performed for ancestors not only help in mitigating ancestral curses but also pave the way for happiness and prosperity in life.

Effective Remedies for Mitigating Ancestral Curses on Magha Amavasya
Bathing in a holy river in the early morning on Maghi Amavasya is considered extremely beneficial. After bathing, one must perform Tarpana (offering water) for the ancestors.
The most auspicious time for Tarpana is said to be from 5 AM to 9 AM.
If there is no river, lake, or pond available nearby, Tarpana can also be performed at home. For this, take water in a vessel and add Kusha grass, rice grains, and black sesame seeds to it.
Then, facing south, offer the water in the name of your ancestors and chant the mantra "Om Pitribhyo Namah" at least 11 times.
Charity
Giving charity on this day is also of special importance to receive the blessings of ancestors.
If possible, feed a deserving Brahmin or donate food, clothes, and money to the needy.
Donating at holy pilgrimage sites like Haridwar and Gaya is also considered to mitigate ancestral curses.
This brings satisfaction to the souls of the ancestors, and their blessings remain upon the family.
Panchabali Karma
Performing Panchabali Karma on Maghi Amavasya is also considered an important remedy.
Offer home-cooked food to a cow, a crow, ants, a dog, and a Brahmin.

Through these creatures, the food reaches the ancestors, which pleases them, and the obstacles in life begin to disappear. Offering of Lamps
Light a four-wicked lamp with mustard oil and place it in the south direction of your house. This destroys negative energy and brings the blessings of your ancestors.
Light a lamp under a peepal tree, offer milk and Ganges water, and circumambulate it seven times. Doing this provides relief from ancestral curses (Pitra Dosha).
