While there's a lot of talk about equality between men and women, a health study has proven that nature itself has created many differences between men and women. A new study has revealed that men need almost twice as much exercise as women to maintain good heart health and live longer.

What does the research say?
According to this study,
For men: Approximately 5 hours of moderate physical activity (such as brisk walking or cycling) a week is needed to reduce their risk of heart disease.
For women: To achieve the same benefits, women need only 2.5 hours of exercise a week.
This means that women can achieve the same health benefits in half the time required for men.
For example, a man would need to walk or jog briskly for 1 hour a day, five days a week. A woman would get the same benefits by walking for just 30 minutes a day, five days a week.
Why is there this difference?
Scientists believe that differences in physical structure may be responsible for this. They say that women's bodies benefit from the same type of exercise more quickly and efficiently. This may be due to differences in the structure of muscles and blood vessels.
How reliable is this research?
This study was conducted at the Smidt Heart Institute at the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the US. It analyzed 22 years of health data from nearly 400,000 adult Americans. The research was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, one of the world's top research journals on heart disease.
Lead researcher Dr. Susan Cheng explained that this study highlights "differences in female and male physiology" and emphasizes that a "one-size-fits-all" approach to health does not work.

What are the benefits of this research for us?
This research doesn't mean that men should give up or that women should work less. Rather, it simply means that you should understand your body. If you want to stay fit, you need to regularly devote a little more time to exercise. For women, even a little exercise can help them avoid the risk of heart disease. But this doesn't mean they should ignore their health. The bottom line is that regular exercise, no matter how much, is better than laziness.
