On Sakat Chauth, offer Lord Ganesha a prasad of tilkut (sesame seed sweet) made with your own hands..

These days, all kinds of sweets are easily available in the market, but there's something special about offering homemade prasad (offering) during puja. Homemade prasad is not only pure, but it also contains your love and devotion. So, why not offer homemade Tilkut to Lord Ganesha this time? The best part is that this recipe (Sakat Chauth Tilkut Recipe) is so easy that it will hardly take you a few minutes to prepare.

To make Tilkut, you will need:
White sesame seeds: 1 cup (cleaned)
Jaggery: 1 cup (grated or in small pieces)
Green cardamom: 4-5 (crushed, for fragrance)
Ghee: 1 teaspoon (optional)

Easy method to make Tilkut:
First, place a heavy-bottomed pan on the gas stove. Add the white sesame seeds and start roasting them on low heat. Make sure the heat is not too high; otherwise, the sesame seeds will burn and taste bitter. Roast the sesame seeds until they turn light golden brown, and you hear a crackling sound. Then, transfer them to a plate and let them cool completely.

Once the sesame seeds have cooled, put them in a blender jar. Do not run the blender continuously, but use the 'pulse mode'. We don't want to make a fine powder of the sesame seeds, but keep them coarsely ground.

Now, add the grated jaggery and cardamom powder to the ground sesame seeds. For the authentic taste, blend this mixture very lightly in the blender once again so that the jaggery and sesame seeds combine well. In the traditional method, it is pounded in a mortar and pestle, which releases the natural oil from the sesame seeds and helps in better binding.

That's it, your delicious and grainy Tilkut is ready. You can offer it as is, like a crumble, or you can lightly grease your palms with ghee and make small ladoos (balls) out of it.
