Parenting: Some children memorize by listening, while others memorize by reading; Expert tells the right way to teach..

Samrat feels very proud that whatever his daughter Suhani hears, she remembers it immediately. But every time in PTM, Suhani's mother is told that Suhani answers every question in the class, but her performance in the given assignments is a little poor.

Actually, here Suhani is a good auditory learner, but her visual learning skills are a little slow. How children learn quickly, by listening or reading, depends on the skills of the children. Whenever we experience something, it is stored in our memory in three ways.

Now it first depends on what skill we are born with. You will see that some children are very fast and creative in visualizing from birth itself. They remember things by seeing them. The second skill is auditory, that is, how well we remember the things we hear. Such children remember things or lessons in the same tone or tune in their mind; if you disturb it, then they are not able to perform that well. For example, English or Hindi alphabets or tables, children remember in a rhythm, but if this rhythm is disturbed, then they get a little confused. There is also a third method in this - kinesthetic.

When we understand things by touching and feeling them, those things stay in our minds forever. Children understand and remember any lesson in these three ways. This is also the case with books. Therefore, it is the first need that parents teach and explain to children in these three ways, and see which way the child understands quickly.

Find out like this

Children who learn by seeing, when they see books, charts, etc., or memorize a lesson step by step, can perform much better. On the other hand, children who learn by hearing respond more quickly by listening to the chapters read in class or saved as audio.

If you want to find out whether the child has the ability to learn faster by seeing or reading himself, or he understands the subject faster by listening, then adopt both the methods one after the other. If the child likes to see pictures, fill the colors given for drawing correctly without looking at them again and again, or if it comes to reading from charts, etc., then his enthusiasm increases, and it is clear that he comes in the category of a visual learner. When you explain and teach children in their own way, then obviously, the children will learn faster.

Education policy becomes helpful.

As the children go to higher classes, it becomes difficult for auditory learner children, because there they have to depend on textbooks and project-assignment work. Apart from this, it is also true that children ultimately have to perform better in oral as well as written examinations, which increases the dilemma of such children.

However, due to the National Education Policy-2020 and the new changes coming in the methods of teaching, a system of teaching in various ways has come into place, where children are not only being taught from books in school but they are also being given experiential education, in which education is being done in 3D form through charts, visuals as well as smart boards. Such creative methods of education are gradually being worked on in CBSE and State Boards, but there is still a long way to go.

Understand the specialty of the child.

If the child quickly learns the things you tell or the steps for any work, or understands them without extra effort, and also repeats the same things immediately or asks questions related to them, then it is obvious that he is an auditory learner.

For example, tell a story. If, in a short while, he tells you that story with your own words, then he is an auditory learner. On the other hand, visual learner children will quickly visualize the story related to the pictures and tell you.

A combined method of both will be very helpful in taking children forward. Just as the development of a newborn is multidirectional, where weight also increases along with height. Similarly, all three methods, visual, auditory and kinesthetic, should be used to teach and explain to children. That is why it is advisable to read aloud to children, so that they learn the lesson by listening to their voice and seeing with their eyes.
