Being a parent is as beautiful an experience as it is a responsibility. Parents strive to provide a better future for their children, but sometimes, even unknowingly, some of their parenting mistakes have a negative psychological impact on their children.

In today's competitive and fast-paced world, stress is on the rise among children, and this is often attributed to parents' habits that they consider normal. Let's explore five such habits that can cause stress in children.
High Expectations and Pressure
"You must come first in class," "If you don't score well, you won't be able to progress," such statements put a deep strain on children's minds. Every parent wants their child to excel in every field, but when this desire turns into unnecessary pressure, the child begins to live under constant stress.
Constant comparisons
"Look how good your friend is," "Your sister always comes first"—such comparisons sow the seeds of an inferiority complex in a child's mind. When a child begins to feel that their own parents underestimate them, their self-esteem is deeply damaged. They begin to feel inferior, which fosters an unhealthy competition to always prove themselves better than others.
Over-Controlling Parenting
Some parents monitor their child's every move, big or small, and direct them at every step. This is called "helicopter parenting." Such parents try to solve every problem for the child, choose their friends, and keep a close watch on their time. This prevents the child from becoming independent. They constantly feel that they cannot do anything right, which leads to fear of decision-making and a lack of confidence.
Constantly Finding Flaws
Some parents focus on their child's shortcomings, not appreciating even their smallest accomplishments. Negative comments like "I did this wrong," "That didn't work out," and such send the message to the child that no matter how hard they work, they can never achieve well.

Tension Between Parents
The home environment has the most profound impact on a child's mental state. If there is constant fighting, yelling, or tension between parents, the child feels emotionally disturbed and insecure. They may also blame themselves for this stress, which makes them feel guilty and constantly stressed.
