The saints of Khak Chowk have announced a new tradition for the upcoming Magh month. In the Magh fair, the saints of Khak Chowk will take Amrit Snan in a royal procession. Two dates have also been fixed for this. On Saturday, Khak Chowk officials sent a letter to the Mela Authority demanding to ensure the arrangements related to it. This decision was taken in the meeting of Khak Chowk officials in Mahakumbh Nagar. According to Jagatguru Santoshacharya, Prime Minister of Khak Chowk Management Committee, more than two hundred and fifty Khalases and saints are associated with Khak Chowk across the country. In the Sanatan tradition, the bath on Amavasya and Vasant Panchami has special religious significance.

The saints discussed this in detail in the meeting. After discussion, it was decided to take Amrit Snan on both of these dates. This Amrit Snan will also be grand like the Amrit Snan of Kumbh. Mahant, Shrimahant, Mahamandleshwar, and Jagatguru associated with Khak Chowk will go out with their disciples in a royal procession. All the saints and sages will take a bath with royal splendor. This new tradition will start from the next Magh Mela. Both these Amrit Snans will be held in every Magh Mela. According to Khak Chowk official Madhavdas Ji Maharaj, a letter has been sent to the Mela Authority officials for this new arrangement. They have been asked to make this arrangement from the next Magh Mela.

Khak Chowk is made up of renunciants

The saints associated with Khak Chowk are made up of renunciants and ascetics. The ascetics start their meditation by lighting a fire on Vasant Panchami. The ash produced from the fire has become their identity. During the Magh Mela, the ascetics are settled in one place. This is called Khak Chowk. A total of about 213 Khalas from all over the country are associated with the Khak Chowk management committee that looks after its arrangements, although officials say that their number has increased with time. Due to the increase in members in many Khalas, there is a need to set up separate camps for them. In such a situation, the number has increased to more than 250 now.
