Puja Path Niyam: Yagya, Puja, and Aarti are performed during any fast or festival. If any mistake is made knowingly or unknowingly during this time, then, along with the Kshama Mantra, atonement measures can also be taken. By this, one can get the full benefit of fast and worship. On some festivals, the Devi or Devta is sent off after their installation. In such a situation, if any mistake is made in the worship at the time of farewell, then definitely ask for forgiveness. The meaning of this tradition is that God is everywhere; neither does one have to invite him nor send him off. If the lamp goes off during the worship, the oil spills, there is some shortage in the worship material, there is some shortage in the worship, or any other kind of mistake is made, then say the Kshama Mantra.

Ask for forgiveness
The worship doesn't need to be done completely according to the rules mentioned in the scriptures; there can be mistakes in both the mantra and the action. Despite this, since I am a devotee and want to worship, I may make mistakes, but God, forgive me. Remove my ego, because I am in your refuge. At the end of Puja Aarti, first of all, ask for forgiveness from the goddess or god being worshipped. After this, say the forgiveness mantra.
This mantra is said to ask for forgiveness in worship.
Aawahanam Na Janami Na Janami Tavarchanam.
Poojaam Shechava Na Janami Kshamyataam Parameshwar.
Mantraheen Kriyaheen Bhaktiheen Sureshwaram.
Yatpujitam Maya Deva Paripoorna Tadasmatu.
Meaning: O Lord. I neither know how to call you nor how to send you off. I do not even know how to worship. Kindly forgive me. I neither remember the mantra nor the ritual. I do not even know how to worship. I am worshipping as much as possible. Please forgive my mistakes and complete this worship.
Measures of atonement
If a serious mistake has been committed, then go to the temple barefoot for 43 days.
Prostrate 108 times in front of the deity in the temple.
For atonement, worship Lord Kartikeya and Varundev and ask for forgiveness from them.
In the sixth chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat, Shukdev ji has told Maharaj Parikshit the ways of atonement, read it.
For atonement, perform Panchbali Karma and give donations.
