Speaking to us, Pandit Nand Kishore Mudgal, a renowned astrologer from the Mudgal Jyotish Kendra at Pagal Baba Ashram in Deoghar, said that yogurt also holds special significance in Indian astrology. People generally consider yogurt an auspicious omen. Eating yogurt with sugar before leaving home for any auspicious occasion, journey, exam, or interview is considered lucky. It is believed that this brings success and removes obstacles.

Yogurt as a Bad Omen
However, the astrologer also mentioned some inauspicious signs associated with yogurt, which are less commonly known. If a bowl of yogurt suddenly falls in the house, it is considered a bad omen. This can indicate a decline in household prosperity, financial loss, or family discord.

In fact, yogurt is considered a symbol of the moon. The moon is the planet associated with the mind, emotions, and peace. When yogurt spills, it is linked to the inauspicious influence of the moon. It is considered particularly inauspicious if yogurt spills while leaving home for an important task. Furthermore, if yogurt spills repeatedly in the house, it is considered a sign of impending major trouble. Also, yogurt should never be left unfinished on the plate; according to religious beliefs, this is considered inauspicious and can increase the influence of negative energy.
