The wedding season is on. Many types of rituals are performed in this way. There are 16 rites in Sanatan Dharma from birth to death, in which the most important ritual is the wedding ceremony, after which a new life begins. In this ritual, one of the many rituals, the bride comes out sprinkling grains backward during the farewell.

Many rituals are performed at weddings. These have different beliefs. During this, when the bride crosses her father's threshold in the wedding ceremony, why does she sprinkle rice without turning back? In this report, we will tell you why this happens and what is its importance.
Shyam Kumar Pandey, priest of Bhagwati Bhawan located in Redma of Palamu district headquarters Medininagar, told Local18 that in the Hindu religion, many rituals are performed at weddings, in which some have special importance. At the same time, daughters have been given the status of Lakshmi according to the classical evidence. He mentioned a verse of Goswami Tulsidas "Putri Pavitra Kiye Kul Dou, Sujas Dhawal Jagu Kaha Sab Kou" and said that a son takes forward a family, whereas a daughter purifies and takes forward two families, in which one protects the father's house and the other protects the husband's house.
He further said that even today people have many questions about son and daughter. People even say that sons and daughters are equal, but equality between sons and daughters cannot be established without understanding people. In the scriptures, the daughter has been given the status of Lakshmi. In the marriage ceremony, at the time of farewell after marriage, rice is sprinkled along with the coin without looking at the back, which has no scriptural proof, rather it is a folk tradition.
He further said that daughters are the Lakshmi of the house. On the other hand, when a daughter is sent off, she goes to someone else's house. So that there is no shortage of food and money in the father's house, the bride sprinkles rice backward without looking back at the time of farewell. Along with this, a rope of the height of the daughter is kept inside the house, which is a folk tradition that Lakshmi stays in the father's house. This is a ritual given by the ancestors, which people still follow.
He said that a folk tradition in marriage is that after the farewell, when the bride goes some distance from the father's house, the brother makes the bride gargle with water. Along with this, there is a ritual of the father looking at the house. During this, she looks towards the door of the house, behind which there is a belief that the bride's love for her parents' house should not decrease and the bride should keep coming to the house.

After the farewell, the bride throws some pebbles at the head of her village. Before this, she rubs the pebbles on her head. This means that if there are any evil powers on us, then they should remain here. This is a kind of totka. After this, the bride goes to her in-laws' house without looking back. So that whatever evil powers are there, they do not dominate her again and cannot cast their gaze on her.
