It is believed that the Sawan Monday fast is observed to seek Lord Shiva's blessings, obtain desired boons, and alleviate life's hardships. On this day, Lord Shiva and the Shiva family are worshipped according to prescribed rituals, and a fast is observed with devotion. However, even minor, unintentional errors can affect the spiritual merit of the fast. Therefore, the Sawan Monday fast should always be observed in strict adherence to the rules. The first Monday of Sawan falls on August 3, 2026. An auspicious combination of the *Uttarabhadrapada Nakshatra* and *Sukarma Yoga* will occur on this day.

Sawan Monday Fasting Rules
On Sawan Monday, worship Lord Shiva according to rituals and perform *Jalabhishek* (ritual bathing of the deity) using *Panchamrit*.
Perform *Rudrabhishek* during the fast; it is believed that this pleases Mahadev and leads to the fulfillment of wishes.
Avoid wearing black clothes on the day of the fast; instead, wear clean white attire.
Do not consume or use onions, garlic, meat, alcohol, or other *Tamasic* foods in the house on Sawan Monday.
Maintain self-restraint throughout the day; avoid anger and insulting others.
Observe *Brahmacharya* (celibacy) during the fast and maintain purity in your actions.
Chanting Shiva mantras and reciting the *Shiv Puran* is considered highly auspicious.
Break the fast with devotion only after completing the worship and the evening *Aarti*.
Make donations according to your faith and capacity during the Sawan Monday fast.
