Shattila Ekadashi 2026 Date: Shattila Ekadashi is considered the first Ekadashi of the Magha month. It falls on the Ekadashi tithi (lunar day) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the Magha month. On Shattila Ekadashi, devotees worship Lord Vishnu and offer sesame seeds to him. Sesame seeds have special significance in this Ekadashi fast, which is why it is called Shattila Ekadashi. Date of the First Ekadashi of Magha or Shattila Ekadashi
According to the Panchang, the Magha Krishna Ekadashi tithi will begin on Tuesday, January 13th, at 3:17 PM. This tithi will remain valid until 5:52 PM on Wednesday, January 14th. Therefore, according to the sunrise tithi, the fast of the first Ekadashi of Magha or Shattila Ekadashi will be observed on Wednesday, January 14th. This is also the first Ekadashi of the new year 2026.
Shattila Ekadashi Muhurat (Auspicious Time)
On Shattila Ekadashi, the Brahma Muhurat is from 05:27 AM to 06:21 AM. During this time, after completing your bath and other morning rituals, you should take the vow for the Shattila Ekadashi fast and Vishnu Puja. After that, you can perform the worship of Lord Vishnu between 07:15 AM and 09:53 AM. There is no Abhijit Muhurat on this day. Rahu Kaal on Ekadashi is from 12:30 PM to 01:49 PM.
Shattila Ekadashi in 3 Auspicious Yogas
On the day of Shattila Ekadashi, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Amrit Siddhi Yoga, and Vriddhi Yoga will be formed in the evening. On that day, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Amrita Siddhi Yoga will be from 7:15 AM to 3:03 AM the next day, January 15th. The Ekadashi puja will be performed during these two auspicious yogas. These are highly beneficial yogas.
On that day, Gandha Yoga will be from morning until 7:56 PM, after which Vriddhi Yoga will begin. Anuradha Nakshatra will be present in the morning of Ekadashi, lasting until 3:03 AM on January 15th, after which Jyeshtha Nakshatra will begin.

Those who observe the Shattila Ekadashi fast on January 14th can break their fast on Thursday, January 15th, between 7:15 AM and 9:21 AM. Dwadashi will end at 8:16 PM on this day.
