Subhash Ghai Makes a Major Revelation Regarding the *Taal* Sequel; Shares Insights on Casting—Says: "The Film's Script..."

Veteran film director Subhash Ghai's 1999 film *Taal* continues to live on in the hearts of fans. Its simple yet beautiful storyline and powerful songs have carved a unique niche for themselves in the hearts of the audience. Now, the director has made a major revelation regarding a sequel to the film. Read on to find out what he had to say.

**What Did the Director Say About a Sequel?**

In a recent conversation with the *Hindustan Times*, Subhash Ghai revealed that people have been requesting a sequel to *Taal* for quite some time now. He noted that even today's Gen-Z audience frequently asks him when he plans to remake *Taal*.

Speaking about a post he recently shared, he said, "The post I shared contains a question, and it is up to the audience to provide the answer. For the past 15 years, I have been hearing this very question: 'When are you going to remake *Taal*?' The energy of that original *Taal* is so powerful that even today's Gen-Z generation is urging me to make it."

"However, the subject matter of *Taal* is far more difficult than it appears on the surface. We have nearly completed the entire script, and we are now contemplating whether this might just be the right time to bring it to life. Yet, to create it successfully, a sense of purity is essential."

**Casting: The Biggest Challenge**

He further added, "If you recall, when *Taal* was originally made, Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya Rai were newcomers to the industry. Consequently, that sense of purity was palpable on screen. Anil Kapoor was already a star at the time, and he was portrayed as a star within the film as well. After writing a strong script, the greatest responsibility lies in the casting. The only reason some of my films failed to succeed was due to incorrect casting choices."

When asked whether Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda could potentially be part of *Taal 2*, Subhash Ghai stated unequivocally that—even though they may have already achieved star status—the film requires characters who appear fresh and authentic. He said, "Ahaan Panday and Aneet Pedda have now become stars, but in *Taal 2*, the characters need to feel fresh. That is precisely what the characters demand."
