Virat Ramayan Mandir Shivling Installation: The world's largest Shivling will be installed today in Kaithwalia, East Champaran district, Bihar. Along with the Sahasralingam Shivling, 1072 deities will also be installed at the Virat Ramayan Temple. This Shivling is also noteworthy because of its length of 33 feet and weight of 210 tons. A 17-foot garland has also been prepared for this Shivling. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also be present at the installation of the Sahasralingam Shivling today. Why was today's date chosen for the installation of this Shivling? There is a reason behind this.

Today is Special for Shivling Installation
According to the Hindu calendar, today is the Chaturdashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha of the Magha month. This tithi began on January 16, Friday, at 10:21 PM and will continue until 12:03 AM on January 17, Saturday. Thus, the Chaturdashi tithi is observed throughout the day-to-day. Chaturdashi is the day of Shivratri, which means the night of Lord Shiva. Therefore, this day is special for the installation of the world's largest Shivling. One month from today, on February 15th, is also Mahashivratri.

Sahasralingam Shivling Installation Muhurat
The puja for the installation of the Sahasralingam Shivling will take place from 8 AM to 10 AM. Following this, a havan (fire ritual) will be performed from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Sahasralingam Shivling will be installed during this time.

According to the Hindu calendar, the auspicious time (Shubh-Uttam Muhurat) is from 8:34 AM to 9:53 AM. The general auspicious time (Char-Samanya Muhurat) is from 12:31 PM to 1:50 PM.

20 kg Garland, 3250 kg Flowers
A 20-kilogram garland made of flowers, bel leaves, and datura will be used in the Shivling installation. This garland will be offered to the Shivling during the puja. 3250 kilograms of flowers have been used for the decoration of the temple. These flowers were brought from Kolkata and Cambodia. 21 Priests will perform the rituals, and 1072 deities will also be installed
The rituals for the Shivalinga installation ceremony will be performed by 21 priests, who will also install 1072 deities amidst Vedic chanting. During the Havan (fire ritual), offerings will also be made to 64 deities. At the conclusion of the puja, the Sahasralingam Shivalinga will be moved from its current location and installed in its designated place in the temple.

Features of the Sahasralingam Shivalinga
This Sahasralingam Shivalinga was constructed in Pattikadu village of Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. It took approximately 10 years to build.

This 33-foot-tall and 210-ton Shivalinga will be installed on a 23-foot-high platform. After installation, its height from the ground will be 56 feet.
The Sahasralingam Shivalinga contains 1008 smaller Shivalingas and is made of black granite stone. This is why it is named Sahasralingam (meaning "thousand Shivalingas").
Approximately 3 crore rupees were spent on building the world's largest Shivalinga.
This massive Shivalinga was transported from Mahabalipuram to Kaithwalia in 45 days using a 96-wheeled truck.

The Mahavir Mandir Trust Committee is constructing the Virat Ramayana Temple. Acharya Kishore Kunal of the Patna Hanuman Temple had envisioned the construction of this colossal Shivalinga, and his dream is now coming true with its installation.
