Ranveer Singh's film, which is making waves at the box office, is based on a Pakistani gang war and is receiving widespread acclaim worldwide. The film's locations are also currently a topic of discussion, with many wondering if it was actually shot in Pakistan.

However, the truth is that several locations in India were used to depict Pakistan in the film. This isn't the first time Indian locations have been used to represent Pakistan in films. In this article, we'll tell you about some other films where a "fake Pakistan" was created in India:
Lucknow
Many scenes in the 2023 film Gadar 2 depicted Pakistan, but the film was actually shot in India. The Lahore shown in the film was actually Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, the historic La Martiniere College in Lucknow was used to represent the Pakistani Army Headquarters. Several climax scenes were also shot in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
Kashmir
Superstar Salman Khan's blockbuster film Bajrangi Bhaijaan largely depicted a story set in Pakistan, but artificial sets were created in India for filming. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's (Chand Nawab) famous railway station scene was shot in Mandawa, Rajasthan. The film's climax, where Munni crosses the border, wasn't the actual Pakistan border, but rather the Thajiwas Glacier in Sonamarg, Kashmir.
Amritsar
Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta's iconic film Veer-Zaara also featured many scenes depicting Pakistan. However, all the scenes were shot in India. The opulent Pakistani house shown as Zaara's (Preity Zinta) residence was actually the Pataudi Palace in Haryana. Khalsa College in Amritsar was chosen to represent the courtroom scenes.
Palghar
Randeep Hooda's acclaimed film Sarabjit, one of his best, also revolves around a story set in Pakistan. To depict the neighboring country in the film, the makers chose Palghar in Maharashtra and Mumbai. The scenes of Pakistan's infamous 'Kot Lakhpat Jail' were shot at Palghar Fort, which the art directors completely transformed into a Pakistani prison.
Patiala
Raazi, starring Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, is one of the best films of her career. In the film, the actress plays the role of an Indian spy who is married off to a man in Pakistan. Patiala and Malerkotla in Punjab were chosen for the film's shooting. The house where Alia's character gets married in the film is an old mansion in Patiala, Punjab. The market and street scenes in the film were shot in Malerkotla and Nabha in Punjab.

Malerkotla
Although most of the shooting for this film, inspired by the 26/11 attacks, was done abroad, Punjab was chosen to depict some of the scenes set in Pakistan. The market shown in the film as being in Pakistan is actually Malerkotla in Punjab.
