Standing in long queues at immigration counters during international travel at airports is often tiring. To change this experience for travelers, the Government of India launched the Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) in 2024.
The goal of this program is to reduce the 30-minute immigration process to just a few seconds. Let's learn how this program benefits travelers, how to apply for it, and who is eligible to apply.
How will FTI-TTP benefit travelers?
This program is beneficial for travelers in several ways, such as:
Time-saving: With the help of e-gates, you can complete immigration clearance in seconds.
Completely free: No extra charges are levied on applicants for this service.
Long-term convenience: Once registered, it remains valid for 5 years or until the passport expires (whichever is earlier).
Digital and easy: The entire process is online and transparent, ensuring a hassle-free experience for travelers.
Who can apply?
The applicant must be an Indian citizen or hold an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card.
The passport must be valid for at least 6 months at the time of application.
Your identity must be verified through mobile OTP and email.
How to apply?
Online Registration: First, visit the official portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs, ftittp.mha.gov.in. Here, upload your photograph, a copy of your passport, address proof, and, if applicable, your OCI card. The photograph should be clear and have a white background. Note that the photograph should not be older than 6 months.
Biometric Enrollment: After submitting the application, a QR code will be generated. 24 hours later, you can get your biometrics (fingerprint and facial enrollment) done at a designated international airport during your travel or at the nearest FRRO office. No prior appointment is required for this.
Verification and Usage - The information you provide will be verified through official channels. Approval may take up to one month. Once approved, you will be able to complete the immigration process in seconds by scanning your passport and boarding pass at the special e-gates at the airport.
Please keep the following in mind:
If your passport is lost, stolen, or expires, you will need to update the details of your new passport on the portal. However, a new biometric scan will not be required.
Providing incorrect information or uploading blurry documents may result in your application being rejected.
Applicants whose biometrics cannot be captured will not be registered for this program.
