Snowfall in Uttarakhand: This news is for those who had planned to enjoy the snow until January and February but are now thinking of canceling their plans due to the sudden change in weather. Auli is one of the beautiful hill stations of Uttarakhand. Snowfall in Auli usually starts from the end of December and lasts until the beginning of March, with January and February being the months with the heaviest snowfall, making it ideal for skiing and other winter sports. The snow starts to recede by the end of March, but traces of early snow can still be seen. There are many wonderful places to visit in Auli, including the Auli Ropeway, Auli Artificial Lake, and Gorson Bugyal.
Munsiyari, one of the most beautiful valleys of Uttarakhand, usually experiences snowfall from the end of November to the beginning of March. December and January are the months with the heaviest snowfall, when the entire area is covered with a thick blanket of snow, making it ideal for activities like skiing and trekking. Major attractions in Munsiyari include the Panchchuli peaks, Khaliya Top, Birthi Falls, Nanda Devi Temple, and Thamri Kund, which offer spectacular views of the Himalayas. Additionally, the Tribal Heritage Museum and the hot springs of Madkot are also worth visiting, making Munsiyari a great tourist destination.
Harshil in Uttarakhand experiences snowfall from December to mid-March, with January and February being the peak months for snowfall, when the valley is covered with a thick blanket of snow. There are many beautiful places to visit in Harshil, including the tranquil Mukhwa village, Gangotri Temple, the picturesque Dharali village, the group of natural lakes called Sattal, the hot springs of Gangnani, the historical Gartang Gali, and the magnificent Nelang Valley, offering an experience of nature, spirituality, and adventure. If you've canceled your travel plans, it's time to make new ones, because you can still enjoy snowfall here until March.
Chopta, one of Uttarakhand's beautiful hill stations and known as "Mini Switzerland," typically experiences snowfall from December to March, with the heaviest snowfall usually occurring from mid-December to February, and sometimes even extending into April. This is especially true for the Tungnath trek, where the snowy season lasts until almost the end of March. This "Mini Switzerland" is covered in snow, and the trekking experience during this time is incredible. Tungnath Temple, Chandrashila Peak, Deoriatal, Ukhimath, and the Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary are some of the major attractions in Chopta, famous for trekking, stunning Himalayan views, serene lakes, and wildlife experiences. You can even enjoy snowfall similar to January in February.

In Chakrata, Uttarakhand, the main snowfall season is from December to March, with the best snowfall occurring in late December and January. This makes it an ideal time for snow trekking and winter sports. However, this year (2026), the meteorological department has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches between January 22nd and 27th. You can also witness beautiful snowfall here in February.
