Thyroid issues affect both men and women; however, women are more susceptible. Nutritional deficiencies often exacerbate problems associated with hormonal imbalances. The impact of thyroid issues can be minimized—or even effectively neutralized—at home through dietary adjustments and physical activity.

Dr. Jyoti Singh, a dietitian at the Divisional Hospital, explained that while there is no home remedy to completely cure thyroid disease, its effects can be mitigated. This requires attention to both physical activity and diet. There is a common misconception that consuming cabbage or soybeans worsens thyroid conditions, but this is not true; however, consuming them alongside medication might cause some minor issues.
**Recommended Foods**
Dr. Jyoti Singh noted that cooking these foods thoroughly (for about 8 minutes) is ideal. Brazil nuts are also highly recommended due to their high selenium content; they are extremely effective in managing thyroid issues and activating hormones, though they can be expensive. If Brazil nuts are unavailable, flaxseeds (alsi) can be used as a source of Omega-3. Coconut is also highly beneficial; consuming a fresh, two-inch piece provides Omega-3 and boosts nutrient intake.

**Focus on Physical Activity and Diet**
Dr. Jyoti Singh reiterated that thyroid issues affect both men and women, though women are more frequently impacted, often due to hormonal complexities. Therefore, women need to pay special attention to their health. To manage thyroid issues, one must focus on both diet and physical activity. A diet rich in fresh fruits, protein, water, and fiber is essential; maintaining a healthy lifestyle helps prevent hormone-related complications.
