Vinayak Chaturthi 2026: The *Chaturthi* (fourth) *Tithi* (lunar day) holds special significance in Hinduism. Devotees observe a fast on the *Chaturthi* that occurs during both the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) and the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) every month. The *Chaturthi* *Tithi* is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is worshipped first among all deities and is revered as the *Vighnaharta*—the Remover of Obstacles. The *Vinayak Chaturthi* that falls during the month of *Vaishakh* is considered highly auspicious and fruitful. Today—April 20th—this fast is being observed.

Today also marks the occurrence of the *Shobhan Yoga*, an astrological alignment considered extremely auspicious. Performing worship and rituals during the *Shobhan Yoga* is believed to bring happiness, prosperity, and success into one's life. Worshipping Lord Ganesha with proper rituals and rites on *Vinayak Chaturthi* is said to grant liberation from life's tribulations. According to the scriptures, the *Chaturthi* *Tithi* is specifically dedicated to the worship and adoration of Lord Ganesha. The *Chaturthi* occurring during the *Shukla Paksha* is known as *Vinayak Chaturthi*, while the *Chaturthi* occurring during the *Krishna Paksha* is called *Sankashti Chaturthi*. Both of these *Chaturthi* dates are considered excellent for worshipping Lord Ganapati.
**Vinayak Chaturthi Worship Method**
On *Vinayak Chaturthi*, begin by taking an early morning bath.
Next, clean the home temple and install the idol or image of Lord Ganesha there.
Then, spread a red cloth over a raised platform (*Chowki*) and respectfully seat Lord Ganapati upon it.
Afterward, holding a small amount of *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges) in your hands, take a solemn pledge (*Sankalp*) to observe the worship, and commence the rituals according to the prescribed rites.
Now, offer *Durva* grass, *Modaks*, *Laddoos*, and flowers to Lord Ganesha.
Subsequently, light incense (*Dhup*) and a lamp (*Deep*) and perform the worship with full adherence to the rituals.
Chanting the *Ganesha Mantra* and reciting the *Ganesha Chalisa* on this day is considered highly auspicious.
Finally, in the evening, offer *Arghya* (ritual water offering) to the Moon and conclude your fast (*Paran*).
**Significance and Benefits of the Vinayaki Chaturthi Fast**
The *Chaturthi* *Tithi* is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Observing this fast is believed to eliminate all types of obstacles and hurdles encountered in an individual's life. Furthermore, it leads to the attainment of happiness, prosperity, wisdom, discernment, and honor in life. Additionally, those who frequently face failure in their endeavors are said to find relief and liberation from such setbacks through this practice.
In Hinduism, Sankashti Chaturthi holds a distinct significance. It is believed that worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day alleviates all the troubles and afflictions of devotees. According to the scriptures, worshipping Lord Gajanan on the Chaturthi Tithi leads to an increase in happiness and good fortune, grants liberation from obstacles affecting the home and family, and ensures the completion of stalled auspicious undertakings.
