Three remarkable celestial alignments are coinciding with Varalakshmi Vrat this year.

That day marks the 'Purnima Tithi' (Full Moon day) of the Shravan month. Consequently, the ritual bath and charity associated with Shravan Purnima will take place on the day of Varalakshmi Vrat. The 'Shravani Upakarma' ritual is also performed on this day; this involves wearing a new sacred thread (Janeu), taking a vow to study the Vedas (or commencing the study), and performing 'Rishi-Tarpan' (offering oblations to the sages).
