According to Hindu religious texts, a year contains certain auspicious periods (muhurats) during which auspicious ceremonies can be performed without consulting a priest. Performing auspicious ceremonies such as marriage, housewarming, foundation laying, or starting a religious pilgrimage during these auspicious periods is considered faultless. These dates are self-proven and so sacred that every moment of them is considered auspicious.

In a year, Akshaya Tritiya, Dussehra, Phulera Dooj, Shivaratri, Vasant Panchami, etc., are such dates that are inherently sacred and auspicious. There is no need to consult the almanac for auspicious timings on these dates. In January, the first month of 2026, Vasant Panchami is arriving, which is an auspicious period. However, performing any auspicious ceremony during this particular auspicious period will incur a fault that cannot be rectified even with remedies.
Extremely Auspicious and Potent Conjunction
Providing more information, Pandit Shridhar Shastri, a learned astrologer from Haridwar, explains that according to the Hindu calendar, certain dates in a year are extremely auspicious and potent. These dates are called auspicious periods (Abhuj Muhurat). On dates like Akshaya Tritiya, Phulera Dooj, Dussehra, Shivaratri, Vasant Panchami, etc., any auspicious ceremony can be performed without consulting a priest. Auspicious ceremonies performed on these dates are considered extremely fortunate.
He explains that in Hinduism, for auspicious ceremonies such as marriage, housewarming, foundation laying, major religious pilgrimages, and large religious rituals, the position of Jupiter and Venus is considered. If these ceremonies are performed during an auspicious period, the results are considered everlasting. Coincidentally, in 2026, due to the setting of Venus during the auspicious period of Vasant Panchami, no auspicious ceremonies will be performed.
How to attain special benefits
He further explains that the auspicious period of Vasant Panchami will be on January 23rd, and Venus will set on December 12th and will remain in this state until January 31st. Due to the setting of Venus, performing any auspicious activities on Vasant Panchami, such as marriage ceremonies, housewarming ceremonies, major religious rituals, large-scale religious worship, or pilgrimages, will be considered inauspicious. However, performing prayers, worship, and observing fasts on this day will yield manifold auspicious results and resolve all problems in life. Reciting hymns dedicated to Lord Shiva, such as the Shiva Tandava Stotram, Rudrashtakam, Pashupatya Ashtakam, and Shiva Mahima Stotram, on this day will bring special blessings.
