Vasant Panchami for Marriage: Vasant Panchami is considered a symbol of the arrival of spring. According to the Hindu calendar, Vasant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day (Panchami Tithi) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the month of Magha. On this day, people worship Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. It is considered auspicious to begin a child's education on the day of Saraswati Puja. Besides these things, the day of Vasant Panchami is also considered auspicious for marriage. Apart from marriage, Vasant Panchami is also considered auspicious for housewarming ceremonies, tonsuring ceremonies, engagements, starting a new business or work, and purchasing vehicles, property, etc. Couples getting married on Vasant Panchami can perform the wedding rituals at any time during the day. The question arises: what is it about Vasant Panchami that makes it so auspicious for marriage?

Why is Vasant Panchami Auspicious for Marriage?
According to astrologer Chakrapani Bhatt of Kashi, Vasant Panchami has self-proven auspicious timings throughout the day. It is also known as an Abujh Muhurat. Abujh Muhurat means that if you want to perform any auspicious work or get married on Vasant Panchami, you don't need to consult a Panchang (Hindu calendar) to find an auspicious time. You can perform any auspicious work on this day without consulting the Panchang.
Vasant Panchami is also associated with Kamadeva and Rati. Kamadeva is worshipped on this day. The grace of Kamadeva is essential for marital bliss in married life. A loving relationship between husband and wife is necessary. According to mythology, it was on the day of Vasant Panchami that Kamadeva and Rati first instilled love and attraction towards beauty in the hearts of humans. Therefore, those who get married on Vasant Panchami have a loving and harmonious married life.
Since Vasant Panchami has an Abujh Muhurat for the entire day, i.e., 24 hours, you can perform the seven vows of marriage with all the rituals at any time on that day. Nowadays, weddings are commonly held at night, so you can get married at night or during the day if you wish. There is no restriction in the scriptures regarding the timing of marriage; it doesn't have to be at night. Besides Vasant Panchami, this day also has an auspicious time (Abhuj Muhurat)
The Hindu calendar (Panchang) doesn't only have an auspicious time on Vasant Panchami. Besides Vasant Panchami, Akshaya Tritiya, Phulera Dooj, Bhadli Navami, Devuthani Ekadashi, Vijayadashami, etc., also have auspicious times throughout the day. However, besides Vasant Panchami, Akshaya Tritiya is also considered a very auspicious day for weddings.

Why will there be no auspicious ceremonies on Vasant Panchami 2026?
Despite Vasant Panchami having an auspicious time this year, auspicious ceremonies like weddings and housewarmings will not be possible. The biggest reason for this is the setting of the planet Venus. Venus is set from December 11, 2025, to February 1, 2026. In astrology, Venus is considered the planet responsible for material comforts, luxuries, a happy married life, and love. Getting married on Vasant Panchami while Venus is set will not be considered auspicious or beneficial. It is believed that such marriages will not result in a happy married life.
