Vastu Tips: Is lighting a lamp in the bedroom auspicious or inauspicious? Learn what Vastu says..

Diya in Bedroom Vastu Tips: Many people wonder whether it's right to light a diya in the bedroom. Some believe that lighting a diya brings positive energy, while others associate it with Vastu defects. In reality, a diya in our home isn't just a source of light, but also a symbol of purity, peace, and positivity. However, knowing where and when to light it is equally important, as even a small mistake can affect the energy of the home. Today, we'll explore why lighting a diya in the bedroom is considered right or wrong, and the religious and Vastu reasons behind it. Astrologer and Vastu expert Ravi Parashar explains this.

Lighting a diya or lamp has always been a part of Indian tradition. The importance of lighting a diya during morning and evening prayers is emphasized, as it not only purifies the atmosphere but also dispels negative energy. However, when it comes to the bedroom, the perspective is slightly different. According to Vastu Shastra, the bedroom is a place for relaxation and private time. This place should be calm and peaceful. If you light a lamp here, it's important to keep a few things in mind, as it could have adverse effects.

From a religious perspective, a lamp is considered a symbol of God's presence. Lighting it near a place of worship, the kitchen, or a Tulsi plant is considered auspicious, as these places are sacred and energetic. However, lighting a lamp in the bedroom is often considered inappropriate, especially at night, as the bedroom is dominated by the energy of sleep and rest. A lamp lit here could disturb that energy.

However, some people light a lamp in the room during meditation, which is a different context. If you want to light a small lamp for a peaceful atmosphere or while meditating, you can do so, but safety and direction are important. The lamp should always be placed facing east or north so that its light spreads positivity in the room.

Vaastu Shastra states that balancing the fire element is crucial in the bedroom. If you light a lamp or candle, don't leave it on for long periods of time, and never leave it burning while sleeping. Doing so can not only pose a danger but also increase mental disturbance. If you need light at night, use an electric night lamp.

Another reason is that if a husband and wife sleep in the bedroom, this space symbolizes marital harmony. Lighting a lamp here can increase tension or even conflict in the relationship, increasing the fire element. Therefore, it is considered more auspicious to always light a lamp in the prayer room or courtyard of the house.

If you still want to light a lamp in the bedroom, light it for a short period in the morning. This increases positive energy in the home and is considered an auspicious start to the day. You can also light a scented oil lamp to create a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Just remember to never place the lamp in a closed room or in a place where there is no ventilation.

Whether or not lighting a diya in the bedroom is appropriate depends on the purpose for which you are lighting it. If lit briefly for devotion, meditation, or positivity, it may be beneficial, but leaving a diya burning overnight or unattended can be detrimental. It is best to light a diya in a place of worship, near a Tulsi plant, or in the courtyard of the house, where its light will fill the home with positivity and peace.
