Period Pain Relief Tips: Lower abdominal pain during menstruation is common for women. This pain can sometimes become so severe that it makes everyday tasks difficult. Taking medication repeatedly can put an extra burden on the body, so according to Ayurveda and science, adopting some natural remedies is safer and more effective. These methods not only reduce pain but also provide comfort and energy to the body.

Warm compresses are the oldest and easiest method. Placing a hot water bottle or heating pad on the lower abdomen relaxes the muscles and improves blood flow. This reduces muscle spasms and gradually alleviates the pain. In Ayurveda, this remedy is considered effective in relieving muscle pain. Doing this for 10-15 minutes daily is quite beneficial and has no side effects.
Ginger tea is another effective way to relieve menstrual pain. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that reduce inflammation. Several studies conducted in Iran and other countries have proven that consuming ginger powder or fresh ginger helps reduce pain. You can add it to your tea or include it while cooking. This also improves blood circulation in the body and reduces abdominal cramps.
Yoga and light physical activity are also beneficial for period pain. Light exercise increases blood circulation and reduces muscle tension. Yoga poses like Balasana (Child's Pose) and Marjaryasana (Cat-Cow Pose) relax the muscles and reduce lower abdominal pain. Regular yoga also reduces stress in the body, which in turn reduces the mental burden of pain.
Including magnesium-rich foods in your diet is also beneficial. Magnesium helps relax muscles. Green leafy vegetables, nuts, and seeds are good sources of magnesium. Including them in your regular diet reduces both abdominal cramps and menstrual pain.

Staying hydrated is also extremely important. Drinking enough water and herbal teas prevents dehydration and muscle stiffness. Fennel tea reduces bloating and makes the stomach feel lighter. Water and hydrating drinks help reduce menstrual cramps naturally.
