With just two weeks left for IPL 2025 to begin, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has suffered a major setback. England's fast bowler Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury. In his place, South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has been included in the squad.

Mulder’s T20 Record is Better Than Carse’s

SRH acquired Brydon Carse for ₹1 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. However, he sustained a toe injury during the Champions Trophy, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament. As a replacement, SRH has signed Wiaan Mulder for ₹75 lakh.

Looking at Mulder's T20 record, he could prove to be more effective than Carse. Mulder has scored 2,172 runs, including 12 half-centuries, and has also taken 67 wickets in his T20 career. His all-round abilities could be crucial for SRH this season.

Impressive Performance in the Champions Trophy

Mulder showcased a strong performance for South Africa in the Champions Trophy, taking six wickets in three matches and contributing well with the bat. Although he went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, he now has the opportunity to make his IPL debut with SRH.

SRH will play its first match against Rajasthan Royals on March 23. It will be interesting to see if Mulder can fill the void left by Carse and make a significant impact for the team.
