Champions Trophy: 'India should be worried about this', Pakistan's interim coach takes a dig at Bumrah's injury, know more..

Pakistan's interim head coach Aaqib Javed has said that India should be concerned about the fitness of their main fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the match on February 23 in the upcoming Champions Trophy. Bumrah could not bowl in the fourth innings of the Sydney Test due to a back injury. Since then he has been away from cricket. He is currently at the BCCI Center of Excellence (COE) in Bangalore, where scans will give clarity on his playing in the Champions Trophy.

'We will not make plans thinking only about Bumrah'

Aaqib said on the occasion of Pakistan's training session at Ghani Glass Ground in Lahore on Wednesday, "India should be concerned about Bumrah's fitness. When you play in the Champions Trophy, the most beautiful thing is that you cannot take any team lightly. The top eight best teams are playing. If a team has a bowler like Bumrah then it is a plus point, but it is not that we will make all the plans thinking only about him. Aaqib defended Pakistan's team.

There was a lot of controversy over Pakistan's team selection for the Champions Trophy. From Ahmed Shehzad to Wasim Akram, everyone criticized this selection. Critics targeted the selection of Faheem Ashraf and Khushdil Shah in the team. Fans are very angry about this selection. Fans believe that they have not performed well recently. However, Aaqib has defended it.

Aaqib's statement about Faheem and Khushdil

He said, 'It is not right to make changes based on the performance of two matches. This same team can be seen playing in the Champions Trophy. When you look at the three pool matches against New Zealand, India, and Bangladesh, you need top seven batsmen, including two all-rounders and four bowling options.' Aaqib, who is also working as the team's chief selector, said, 'Both Faheem and Khushdil are better options to play in subcontinent conditions than Australia and South Africa.'
