On the special occasion of Superstar Mohanlal's 66th birthday, the highly anticipated film *Drishyam 3* has hit theaters. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the third installment of this superhit franchise is being immensely loved by audiences. A tremendous craze is evident among fans in theaters to witness this new chapter in Georgekutty's saga. Meanwhile, the first-day box office figures for *Drishyam 3* have been released.

In terms of box office openings, while the film did not manage to break the records set by Mohanlal's own *L2: Empuraan* or *Drishyam 2*, it certainly made a spectacular start by surpassing the opening-day collections of several recently released films. As expected, the film opened its account with a double-digit figure.
The duo of Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal has once again demonstrated their box office prowess. According to early estimates from the trade website Sacnilk, *Drishyam 3* garnered an impressive collection of ₹15.85 crore from 5,506 shows across the country on its opening day.
With this bumper start, the film's total gross earnings have already touched the ₹18.37 crore mark. Georgekutty's magic is casting a powerful spell not only at the domestic box office but also in international markets. From overseas territories, the film raked in a sensational gross collection of ₹25 crore on its very first day.
Combining its domestic and international earnings, *Drishyam 3* has set a new record by achieving a worldwide gross collection of ₹43.37 crore on its opening day. Given the phenomenal response the film is receiving, it is evident that its earnings are likely to witness a significant surge over the weekend.
The film received its strongest response from the domestic market—specifically Kerala—where the Malayalam version alone generated a bumper collection of ₹13.70 crore. Additionally, the Telugu version contributed ₹1.50 crore, the Tamil version ₹45 lakh, and the Kannada version ₹20 lakh to the total collection. The initial word-of-mouth is quite positive; as such, it will be interesting to see just how significant a surge the film's earnings witness on Friday and over the weekend.

In 2025, Mohanlal's blockbuster film *L2: Empuraan* achieved a record-breaking opening of ₹21 crore on its very first day. Meanwhile, his excellent crime thriller *Thudarum* grossed ₹5.45 crore, and the rom-com *Hridayapoorvam* did business worth ₹3.25 crore; conversely, his action film *Vrushabha* failed to make a significant impact at the box office, managing to collect a mere ₹60 lakh on its opening day.
