Take a solemn vow (*Sankalp*) to observe the fast with a sincere heart. Place a clean cloth on a raised platform (chowki) and install the idols of the Saptarishis (the Seven Sages).


Bathe the sages with water and *Panchamrit*.
Offer sandalwood paste, turmeric, *kumkum* (vermilion), *akshat* (unbroken rice grains), yellow flowers, and *Durva* grass.
Afterward, light a lamp of *desi* ghee and perform *Aarti*.
