There are approximately 33 crore LPG consumers across the country. It is mandatory for those holding LPG connections to complete their e-KYC. However, many LPG customers have not yet completed this essential task. Is your e-KYC pending? If so, you have only two days left to complete it. The deadline for LPG e-KYC is August 31. The deadline was initially August 16, then extended to August 23, and subsequently pushed forward by another eight days by the government.

The biggest question is: what happens if the LPG e-KYC is not completed by August 31? While oil marketing companies have urged people to complete their e-KYC, they have not explicitly stated that gas cylinder bookings will be halted or that consumers will be forced to purchase cylinders at market rates. On August 1, Bharat Petroleum shared a post on its official X account advising customers to complete their e-KYC to ensure uninterrupted LPG services. Similarly, a post by Hindustan Petroleum on X made no mention of gas bookings being stopped.

How to complete LPG e-KYC?

You can complete your LPG e-KYC from the comfort of your home using your smartphone. To do this, download the official mobile app of your respective gas company (IndianOil ONE, HP Pay, or Bharat Gas). You will also need to download the 'AadhaarFaceRd' app for face authentication. Once done, log in to the oil company's app, select the e-KYC option, and complete the process using face authentication.

If you are not comfortable with the online process, there is no need to worry. You can visit your nearest gas distributor agency and complete the e-KYC by providing your Aadhaar card and gas passbook, along with a biometric fingerprint scan. Additionally, when the delivery person arrives at your home to deliver the cylinder, biometric verification can be conducted on the spot using the official POS machine they carry. Consumers who have already completed e-KYC do not need to undergo the process again.
