Ptosis Disease: Cases of ptosis disease are increasing in children, has your child also become a victim? How to identify..

Do your child's eyelids often droop, it seems as if the weight of the upper eyelid has increased too much due to which it is drooping down. If yes, then be careful, this can be a sign of toxic disease.

In the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the cases of tocsis in children. Due to congenital defects, neurological disorders, and muscle weakness, this problem was earlier more common in the elderly, however now even younger people are falling prey to it.

Health experts say toxicosis occurs when the upper eyelid of one or both eyes droops. Sometimes this drooping can be so much that it can cover your pupil (the black spot located in the middle of the eye that allows light to enter), due to which it becomes difficult to see. This disease can affect both children and adults.

The problem of pathological droopy eyelid-toxicosis

In medical terms, it is known as a pathological droopy eyelid. This can be due to nerve damage, underlying medical conditions, or serious problems like stroke.

According to a report, about 100 patients are coming to the ophthalmology department of the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida every month with similar problems, including children. Krishna Kuldeep Gupta, head of the ophthalmology department, said that low eyelid drooping not only spoils the beauty of the eyes but also affects the ability to see.

Can affect the ability to see

Health experts say that the problem of ptosis can be permanent in many cases. In some people, it is also considered congenital. Doctors say that depending on the severity of the condition, drooping upper eyelids can obstruct the pupil, which can also affect the ability to see. In most cases, this condition gets cured naturally or with some treatment therapy, although, in some situations, surgery may be required to correct it.

Also, know why this occurs.

This problem of drooping eyelids can happen to anyone. It is more common in older people due to the aging process.

The levator muscle is responsible for lifting the eyelid. As you age, these muscles become weaker, due to which the elderly may be at greater risk. Most cases of ptosis in children are considered congenital, one reason for this may be the levator muscles not developing properly.

In some cases, serious conditions such as stroke, brain tumor, or some types of cancer can also cause this kind of problem. This is why it becomes necessary to get it diagnosed and treated correctly in time.
