Raw Mango Sherbet Recipe: As soon as the summer season begins, the scorching heat of the sun starts to leave us feeling drained and exhausted. At such times, even cold water from the fridge fails to provide the specific relief the body craves. However, for generations, Indian households have possessed a time-tested remedy—a true panacea—that not only cools the body but also refreshes the mind: the ‘Raw Mango Sherbet’ (Kacchi Kairi ka Sherbet). With its delightful, sweet, tangy, and zesty flavor, this sherbet is the ultimate beverage for a hot summer afternoon.

Raw mango—also known as *Kacchi Kairi*—is a rich source of Vitamin C. It also contains a good amount of iron and dietary fiber. Since ancient times, it has been regarded as one of the most reliable home remedies for preventing heatstroke and keeping the body well-hydrated. Compared to the packaged beverages available in the market, this homemade sherbet is far healthier, as it contains absolutely no artificial colors or preservatives.
How to Make Raw Mango Sherbet at Home (Recipe):
Essential Ingredients:
Raw Mangoes: 2 (medium-sized)
Jaggery Powder: 3 tablespoons
Black Salt: ½ teaspoon
Roasted Cumin Powder: ½ teaspoon
Mint Leaves: 8–10
Cold Water: 3 cups
Ice Cubes: As required
Preparation Method:
Boil the Mangoes:
First, wash the raw mangoes thoroughly and boil them in water for 10 to 12 minutes until they become soft. Once they have cooled down slightly, peel off the skin and extract the pulp.
Blend:
Now, add the mango pulp, jaggery powder, black salt, roasted cumin powder, and mint leaves into a blender jar. Prepare the Mixture:
Add one cup of cold water to the ingredients and blend thoroughly. The resulting mixture will be slightly thick and frothy.
Add Water:
Now, transfer this paste into a pitcher or jug and add the remaining cold water. Stir well with a spoon to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
Serve:
Place ice cubes in a glass and pour in the prepared sherbet. Garnish with a sprinkle of roasted cumin powder and a few mint leaves, then serve immediately.
Nutrient-Rich:
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a single glass of raw mango sherbet provides a good dose of Vitamin C and Iron. Thanks to the use of jaggery, it is not excessively high in calories and provides the body with natural energy.

So this summer, say goodbye to sugary cold drinks and prepare this traditional 'super-drink' right at home. Its delightful sweet-and-sour taste is sure to be loved by everyone—from children to adults. Not only will it quench your thirst, but it will also give you the strength to combat the scorching summer heat.
