Causes of Vomiting: Vomiting is a very common and uncomfortable problem for people of all ages. Sometimes it's due to a minor stomach upset, while other times it can be a sign of a serious illness. There can be many reasons behind vomiting, and it's important to understand them so that the right treatment can be given at the right time.

Stomach Problems:
The most common causes include stomach problems such as indigestion, stomach upset from eating burnt or spicy food, or infections caused by bacteria and viruses in food. Besides this, gas, acidity, or food poisoning can also cause vomiting. Sometimes, headaches or migraines, excessive stress, anxiety, or even a sudden smell or food item can trigger nausea.
Dehydration:
Another major cause of vomiting can be dehydration or a lack of water and minerals in the body. This can be more dangerous in children and the elderly, as their bodies weaken quickly. In women, morning sickness and vomiting during pregnancy due to hormonal changes are also common.
How to Stop Vomiting in Ayurveda?
In Ayurveda, vomiting is viewed in several ways. Imbalances of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha can lead to stomach problems and cause vomiting. In Ayurvedic remedies, keeping the body hydrated and eating light food is considered very important. Slowly sipping coconut water with a little cardamom powder is soothing for both the stomach and the digestive system. Drinking warm ginger tea reduces nausea and calms the stomach.
Eat Light Meals:
Light and easily digestible foods such as boiled or puffed rice, or rice water are also very beneficial. Additionally, homemade ORS (made by mixing clean water, salt, and sugar) should be consumed slowly to maintain the body's electrolyte balance. These Ayurvedic remedies prevent the body from weakening and accelerate recovery.
What precautions should you take?
Additionally, it's important to rest your body during vomiting. Avoid eating heavy meals suddenly, drinking too much water at once, or consuming oily and spicy food. Taking small sips of water, coconut water, or light soup is advisable. Keep in mind that if vomiting is persistent, you experience extreme weakness, or show signs of dehydration, contact a doctor immediately.
