Advancements in medical science and cutting-edge discoveries have now made the treatment of many serious diseases significantly easier. Diseases that were once considered synonymous with death can now be successfully treated. Infections like HIV can now be controlled through medication, while progress in cancer treatment has led to increased survival rates among patients.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed a remarkable feat by scientists, who rapidly developed vaccines to protect people from the increasingly deadly COVID-19 disease. Teams of scientists are continuously working toward making the treatment of chronic diseases even simpler and more affordable.
While diseases once considered incurable—such as cancer and HIV—are now being treated with relative ease, did you know that even today, there are several common and rapidly spreading ailments that, despite being widespread, still lack a specific cure?
**Many Diseases Still Have No Cure**
Medical reports indicate that, to date, no specific cure exists for several very common health issues. Doctors typically prescribe medications solely to manage the symptoms associated with these diseases; a method to eradicate the illness from its root cause has yet to be discovered. You might be astonished to learn the names of many such diseases.
Let us explore these diseases in greater detail below.
**No Cure for Dengue Yet**
Did you know that, as of now, there is no available cure for Dengue? Doctors prescribe medication solely to alleviate its symptoms—such as fever, body aches, and a drop in platelet count.
Dengue is a viral infection transmitted through the bite of the *Aedes* mosquito.
In this disease, platelet levels drop rapidly, thereby increasing the risk of bleeding.
Treatment primarily involves staying well-hydrated (drinking plenty of fluids), taking Paracetamol, and consuming nutritious food.
**No Cure for Chikungunya Either**
Much like Dengue, there is currently no definitive cure available for Chikungunya.
Chikungunya is also a viral disease that is transmitted by mosquitoes. It is characterized by joint pain accompanied by a high fever.
Treatment typically involves only pain-relieving medications and a recommendation for rest.
To date, there is no specific medication or vaccine available to prevent this condition.
**Rabies: A Fatal Outcome**
Rabies is an extremely dangerous viral disease transmitted through the bite of infected dogs and certain other animals. A critical fact is that once symptoms manifest, the disease becomes incurable. It is considered 100% fatal.
Initially, rabies causes symptoms such as fever, headaches, and weakness. However, it subsequently affects the brain, leading the patient to develop a fear of water (hydrophobia).
The only defense against rabies is timely vaccination. If the vaccine is administered immediately after a bite, the onset of the disease can be prevented.

**Alzheimer's: An Incurable Condition**
Alzheimer's is a neurological disorder characterized by a gradual decline in memory and cognitive abilities.
It is predominantly observed in elderly individuals over the age of 60. There is currently no permanent cure for this condition.
In Alzheimer's disease, brain cells undergo progressive degeneration.
Treatment involves the administration of medications designed solely to help slow down the progression of symptoms; the disease itself cannot be completely cured.
